FHL film 0186144 Source:Chesterfield, Hampshire, Massachusetts, United States. Church Records, 1764-1913, p. 48, has the following interesting record:
1781 May 1st: Admitted Sarah, wife of John Packard

This is after the first wife of Person:John Packard (12), who was named Sarah, had died, and that John Packard had married Hannah Vinson. It is also too early for John's son John, b. 1769, to have a wife. So it is hard to figure out who the John Packard named here is unless this is a second marriage of this John Packard?

What appears to possibly be a third marriage appears in Source:Easton, Bristol, Massachusetts, United States. Births, Deaths, and Marriages by Families, 1697-1847, p. 167, which has the following record:
April ye 25th 1790, Then Joined in marriage Mr. John Packard, Transiant person, to Widow Elisabeth Macomber of Easton in the County of Bristol, by Samuel Guild Jus't Pacis. Recorded by Elijah Howard, Town Clerk.

Interestingly, regardless of who the transient John Packard is, this appears to be a sister-in-law of John's first wife Rachel Niles.

  • According to NEHGR, p. 85:155, Rachel Niles' brother Daniel Niles Jr. m. 20 Nov 1760 Elizabeth Randall of Easton, d. 1775.
  • According to Easton VRs, p. 157: April the 9th 1782. Mr. Jacob Macomber and Mrs. Elisabath Niles both of Easton ware married by me. Archibeld Campbell. This was Jacob Macomber's second marriage, his first wife Eleanor having died.
  • Source:Cutter, William Richard. New England Families, Genealogical and Memorial, p. 3:1603, says Jacob Macomber d. 1787 and his widow married John Packard.
