John with his family moved to Norwich Twp in 1835 and settled on Lot 16,Cons 1 the farm that is now known as the Morgan farm, just west of Burgessville. After his first wife, Anna Steeves died in 1841, he married a widow, Mary Bailey Thompson in 1842. In 1866 he sold 125 acres of land to John Morgan and divided the remaining 75 acres equally amoung his daughter Rachel, and his sons, Oliver and Moses. Frank, Moses'son later owned all of this 75 acres. John then bought a farm 2 miles west of Hickson.
