    John Davidson -- was a Captain in the Revolutionary War serving alternatively in Col. Thomas Brandon's unit and Col. Robert Montgomery's unit. He was killed in the Battle of Hanging Rock, South Carolina in 1780. Capt. Davidson may have been buried at the site of the battle. He was baptized on November 25, 1744 at Tinkling Springs Presbyterian Church in Augusta Co., Virginia.

    Five of his children moved to Kentucky/Illinois: George, Thomas, William and Peggy. Samuel and Susannah stayed and died in Union County, South Carolina. Martha stayed in Union County, South Carolina until after her husband died then moved to Mississippi with her son, Robert. After her marriage to William Lusk, Sarah moved to Tennessee and died there.
