RELIGION:
Christian - Religious Society of Friends.
21 Oct 1902 - granted certificate to Salem MM, to marry Mary S. Cope (W).
20 Jun 1905 - granted certificate to Newgarden MM, Ohio (W).
22 Sep 1908 - John & wife Mary E., & daughter Alice Rebecca, received on certificate from Newgarden MM, Ohio, dated 20 Aug 1908 (W).
MARRIAGE: The marriage of John and Mary was in the old Sewickley Meeting House in Pennsylvania, across the State border. However, at this time the Sewickley Meeting had declined to such an extent that the 7 acres of land belonging to the Friends at that site was deeded to Salem Monthly Meeting. Thus there is an apparent conflict in the records as both venues are independantly named.
