1862 Dec. 13. TIGHLMAN JONES wrote his father, JOEL L. JONES (1805-1877): "I got a letter from Cousin JOEL JONES which I send to you. write and tell me what you think of it."

ca. 1863 April. ADA WYCKOFF wrote her cousin TIGHLMAN JONES: "I forget whether I wrote to you or not that. Cousin John Jones and Griffins wives were dead. Ambrose is in Kansas. What cousin Joel is it that is dead we had not heard it."

Fountain Co., IN, as transcribed in Book 2, p.104. Last Will of Joel L. JONES, Dec'd

  I  Joel L. JONES, of the County of Fountain and State of Indiana, Publish this My last Will and testament  to wit:
  First  I direct after my death that all my funeral Expenses and all My Just debts be paid out of my Effects as soon as convenient.  And as to the remainder of my personal and Real Estate that I am posessed [sic] of I direct that My wife  Nancy C. JONES and my Daughter Lora B. JONES are to have and to hold the same Jointly and Equally.  Except one silver Watch which I will and bequeath to My wife Nancy C.  And further I appoint John STEPHENS my Executor.
  Witness My hand and seal this 24th day of November A. D. 1865.

  Be it Remembered that on the 20th day of December 1865, Jacob HAAS, one of the subscribing witnesses to the--- and forgoing last Will and testament of Joel L. JONES late of said County, Deceased, personally appeared before the undersigned, Clerk of the Court of Common Please, of Fountain County, in the State of Indiana, and being duly sworn by the Clerk of said Court, upon his oath declared and testified as follows to wit:  That on the 24th day of November 1865, he saw the said Joel L. JONES sign his name to said instrument in writing as and for his last Will and testament, and that the deponent at the same time heard the said Joel L. JONES declare the said instrument to be his last Will and testament, and that the said instrument was at the same time, at the Request of the said Joel L. JONES, and with his consent, attested and subscribed by the said Jacob HAAS and W. L. WILSON, in the presence of the said Testator, and in the presence of Each other as subscribing witnesses thereto, and that the said Joel L. JONES, was at the time of the signing and subscribing of the said instrument as aforesaid more than twenty one years of age, and of sound and disposing mind and memory, and not under any coercion or restraint as the said deponent verily believes and further deponent says not

Sworn to and subscribed by the said Jacob HAAS before me W. D. Kerr Clerk of said Court at Covington the 20th day of December 1865.
