- Mrs. Jessie Ross Morris, 87, 505 North 5th Avenue, died Sunday morning at a Rome health-care center.
Mrs. Morris was a native of Floyd County, born December 24, 1897, the daughter of Charles B. and Gertrude Simmons Ross. Prior to retirement she was employed by Berry College as a crafts teacher and was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. Mrs. Morris was preceded in death by her husband Clarence Morris, September 22, 1956, to whom she was married April 9, 1938. Survivors are one step-daughter, Mrs. Joe (Roberta) Smith, Rome; one brother, Lamar (Doc) Ross, Rome; two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Trammell, Rome, and Mrs. Virginia Hardin, Harlingen, Texas; nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 2 pm Tuesday at the East View Cemetery with the Revs. Richard Smith and Scobie Branson officiating. [Rome News-Tribune, April 1985.] KF-in-Georgia
