- Charles Lewis Ross, 70, 24 Locust Street, Riverside, died Sunday at a Rome hospital after an extended illness.
A native of Floyd County, Mr. Ross was born March 12, 1914, son of the late Charles and Gertrude Simmons Ross. He was retired from Celanese in 1972 after 35 years of service. He was a member of St Luke United Methodist Church and the Oostanaula Masonic Lodge, F&AM, No. 113. He had served as president and business agent for Celanese Local No. 689. He also served three years with the U.S. Army. Survivors include his widow, the former Margaret Daniel, to whom he was married August 18, 1939; two sons, Leigh Ross, Rome, Clifton Ross, Kuwait; one brother, Lamar (Doc) Ross, Rome; three sisters, Mrs. Jessie Morris and Mrs. Elizabeth Trammell, both of Rome, and Mrs. Virginia Hardin, Harlingen, Texas, four grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 4:30 pm today at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with the Rev. James Sanders officiating. [Rome News-Tribune, 7 May 1984] KF-in-Georgia

Graveside services for Charles Lewis Ross, 70, 24 Locust Street, Riverside, who died Sunday at a Rome hospital after an extended illness, will be held at 4:30 pm today at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with the Rev. James Sanders officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society. Mr. Ross was preceded in death by a brother, Jacob Benjamin Ross, May 5, 1984.
