    Mrs. H. Markus Died Saturday

    Mrs. Jane Markus, widow of Herman Markus, who died in 1928, passed away at the Home For the Aged Saturday night at 11:00 o'clock, at the age of 82 years, six months, and 27 days. Her illness was of long duration.
    Funeral services were conducted at the Home For the Aged at 1:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, Rev. G. Menning, officiating. Interment was in Oakwood.
    Mrs. Markus was born on Mar. 5, 1854, in Westergeest, The Netherlands, and came to this country at the age of 30 years, in 1884. She was never of robust health and was ill much of her life. She did not think that she would live until she reached America, but she lived to a ripe old age.
    Mrs. Markus is survived by her two children, who were also born in Holland. They are Mrs. Sarah Smith of Prairie City and John Markus of Oskaloosa. She also leaves six grandchildren. She was the last of her family to go.
    Mrs. Markus was a good woman and had many friends, who regret to hear of her demise.
