James Waddington of Grindleton, nr. Clitheroe, bd. 1610 Waddington, Ob. caelebs. Son of Thomas Waddington 1540 of Grindleton, nr. Clitheroe. Descended from Richard de Wadyngton 1388 of Coley Halifax. In his will dated 6 April, 1608, proved 28 April, 1610, he left his nephew Edward Waddington (see 1613) L10; to his niece Isabel Waddington, daughter of his brother Edward Waddington (see 1579), L5; to three of the daughters of his late brother-in-law Anthony Warde, who md. his sister Ellen, 40/- each; and to his niece Elizabeth and Ellen Marton 40/- each (children of his sister Alice Waddington, who married Oliver Marton; to every Godchild 12/-; to Richard Sharoe 3/4; to his Godson William Marton 20/-; to his brother Edward Waddington (see 1579), to his sister Alice (wife of Oliver Marton). To his nephew Christopher Marton L5. Wits-- Wilforde Gandlewistle and John Walbancke. Proved by Oliver and Alice Marton alies Waddington, his wife. See Craven Act Book 1607-1624.
