Alice Waddington of Grindleton, Daughter of Thomas Waddington 1540 of Grindleton and Southowram, Halifax, md 1581 Oliver Marton of Stapleoak-in-Bolland. (See "Bolland," by Colonel J. Parker, C.B.F.S.A., of Browsholme, 1926, pages 19 to 21, XVII. Forest): "In Slaidburn ward there were seven vaccaries (2). Another vaccary was Stapleoak. This from a very early period was farmed by the Martons. About 1665 William Marton moved to near Lancaster. His son Oliver was a Barrister and bought Capernwray, near Lancaster, where his descendants (1926) now live." Descended from Richard de Wadyngton 1388 of Coley, Halifax.
