James Rucker was the son of Benjamin Rucker and Elizabeth _____ of Amherst County, Virginia. He married 1) Nancy Ann Reade, daughter of William Reade and Johanna Jones and 2) Euphram Tate, daughter of Henry Tate and Sara Nederland. James Rucker is a recognized Patriot of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Society of the Sons of the American Revolution. He furnished material aid (supplies) during the Revolution.
He served as a Private in Captain Thomas Yardley's Company, 2nd Regiment Mounted Gunmen (Cannons) West Tennessee Volunteers, War of 1812. Service commenced 24 Sep 1813 and ended 1 Jan 1814. (from headstone application)
