James Norval Orr Lindsay was born 24 Jan 1906 at 2P.M. at 23, Waterside Street, Largs, Ayrshire, Scotland. He immigrated to the United States 11 Jun 1911 with his mother and two sisters. They lived in Oconomowoc, WI and Milwaukee, WI, before moving to a farm in Gloucester/Salem Counties, NJ. Later he lived with his parents and a few siblings in Delaware. He married Gertrude Emma Stone at the parsonage of St. Paul's Methodist Church in Wilmington, DE on 4 Apr 1936. They lived in Wilmington until February 1941 when they moved to Miami, FL. In a few months they returned to NJ, first living with Gertrude's parents in Camden, NJ, then for 1 1/2 year in Haddon Heights, NJ, then back to Camden, NJ. After Jim retired they again lived in the same apartment in Haddon Heights that they had left in September 1943. From death notice in Courier-Post, Cherry Hill, NJ, 2/13/1979: "LINDSAY James N. On February 11, 1979. Of Haddon Heights, N.J. Beloved husband of Gertrude (nee Stone). Age 73. Mr. Lindsay is also survived by two daughters Mrs. Anne Kerr of Hillsborough, Miss Jean Mervine of Marlton, and son James R. of Delaplane, VA, three grandchildren. Two brothers Richard Lindsay, Chadds Ford, PA, Wilson Lindsay, Columbus, Ohio. Two sisters Mary Gardner, Chadds For, PA and Jean Lindsay, Wayne, PA. Mr. Lindsay was employed by the W.C. Davis Fuel Co. of Haddon Heights for 37 years. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday 1 pm at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Green St. & White Horse Pike, Haddon Heights. Interment Locustwood Memorial Park, Cherry Hill. Friends may call Wednesday evening after 7 pm at the Roedel-Evoy Funeral Home, 129 White Horse Pike, Haddon Heights." References
