Obituary - TOPEKA DAILY CAPITOL, April 14, 1989 LEWIS HENDERSON Lewis J. Henderson ,90, Topeka died Wednesday, April 12, 1989, at a Topeka retirement center. Mr. Henderson and his wife owned and operated the College Hill Pharmacy 25 years. He was born March 19, 1899, at Severy, the son of Henry M. and Mattie Sue Collins Henderson. Mr. Henderson was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, Elks Lodge and American Legion Post. He was a charter member of West Side Rotary Club and was a Paul Harris Fellow of the Rotary Club. He was married to Frances G. Specht June 20, 1921 in Kansas City, Mo. she died July 20, 1981. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Marian Alderson, Albuquerque, N.M. and Mrs. Cleiona J. Chittenden, Topeka; a sister, Alma Holmes, Wichita; two brothers, Raymond Henderson, Eureka, and Harvey Henderson, Wichita; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Mr. Henderson will lie in state until 9 p.m. today at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home after which the casket will remained closed.
