    HENDERSON
Mattie Sue Henderson, daughter of Thomas and Sally Collins, was born February 28, 1877, in Kentucky and died April 18, 1965 in a Greenwood county hospital in Eureka.
When a small child, the family moved to Elk county Kansas, locating on a farm near Howard. They were among the first families to inhabit Elk county and to endure the inconvenience of a new land and undeveloped country.
She married Henry Marion Henderson and they lived in the Severy community for 63 years. He preceded her in death on March 5, 1952. Seven children survive; Lewis of Topeka; Lee of Severy; Ernest of Halstead; Raymond of Severy; Virgil of Kansas City and Harry of Wichita. During her illness she was patient and kind, never asking for anything and displaying the kind disposition she had all though her life.
Other survivors include 16 grand children; 33 great-grandchildren, and other relatives.
Funeral services were held at the Severy Methodist church on April 20, with the Rev. Russell Money officiating. Her six sons were pall bearers. Interment was in South Lawn cemetery near Severy. Forsberg Funeral Home was in charge.
