DURGEE James H. Durgee was born in the town of Amboy, Oswego Co., on Feb. 4, 1835 and died on Sept. 10, 1901. When about 5 yrs. old he moved with his parents to the farm in Amboy where he spent the remainder of his days. For about 3 yrs. he had been gradually failing, the effect of heart trouble, and death came suddenly. In 1859 he married Miss Rebecca Doty. 8 children were born to them. 6 are still living... 42 yrs. ago he united with the Baptist Church... The funeral will be held from the late home Friday morning... Rev. Jabez Ford to officiate. Pulaski Democrat, 18 Sep 1901: AMBOY-- James Durgey, an old resident of this town, died quite suddenly Wednesday morning Sept. 11 of heart failure. His funeral was held Friday Sept. 13 from the church in Hillsboro, Rev. Jabes Ford officiating. Interment at Hillsboro. He leaves a wife, three sons and one daughter. Death certificate: James H.
