ASSINK, Harry Bert, 77, a lifelong resident of Lynden, died Saturday (Nov. 26, 1988) in Lynden Christian Rest Home. Mr. Assink, of 205 B.C. Ave., Lynden, was born Oct. 22, 1911, in Lynden to Gerrit and Marie Assink. He was a self-employed truck driver for the cattle industry. Survivors include two daughters, Bev. Honcoop of Lynden and Ellen Henkin of Lynden; to sons, Wesley Assink of Bellingham and Doyle Assink of Sedro-Woolley; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; six brothers, Bert Assink, Ben G. Assink, Floyd Assink, Marion Assink, and Gerald Assink, all of Bellingham, and Ruben Assink of Yakima. Mr. Assink was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Scotty Assink, in 1982. [also grandsons, Gary Gene, 1959, Keith and Kevin Assink, 1960]. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at First Reformed Church, Lynden. Burial will follow at Monumenta Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Lynden Christian Rest Home. Arrangements are by Gillies Funeral Home.
