George Everitt's origins have yet to be established. His first confirmed sighting is on 8th July 1764 when he married an Elizabeth Lucas at Hitchin in Hertfordshire. Three months later they had a daughter, Sarah, baptised at Hitchin. She was followed in 1766 by a daughter named Ann.

In January 1767 George's family was dealt a double blow: his wife Elizabeth was buried on 12th January, and his baby daughter Ann was buried on 26th January.

George remarried on 30th October 1767, again at Hitchin. His second wife was a Mary Cannon, who was sixteen years old and from Hitchin. George and Mary appear to have had nine children baptised at Hitchin between 1769 and 1793. George worked as a labourer.

George died in 1800, being buried at Hitchin on 9th September that year. His burial record gives no indication of his age. Mary survived him by nearly thirty years.
