George was thought to have been born in Bedford County, PA. Church Registers for the Evangelical Lutheran and Reformed Church Congregations in Washington Co., MD. 1788, near Clearspring, MD. show his baptism date as 24 Jun. 1799, with his parents as sponsors.

George, son of Abraham, married his step-sister, Letitia. George Ash moved to Seneca County, Liberty Township, Ohio in 1833. He entered a claim to one hundred and sixty acres of heavily timbered land in Liberty township, reclaimed and otherwise improved the place and here continued to make his home until his death, at the patriarcial age of ninety years, his wife having passed away at the age of sixty-eight years. (Cemetery inscriptions state 89 years, 4 months, and 64 years 10 months.) He was a farmer all of his life.

Also, "...George and Letitia (Reed) Ash, of whose six children three are living at the present time, namely: Upton, a successful farmer of Liberty township; William, and Sarah, the wife of George Sour, of Jackson Township."
