Ernest Henry Chapelle graduated from Harrisville High School in 1905. He attended Ferris Institute; Western State Teachers College, AB; and, the University of Michigan, MA; member of Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Delta Kappa.

He was Superintendant of the Remus, Climax, Richland, Rockford, Charlotte, and Ypsilanti, Michigan school systems. An elementary school in Ypsilanti bears his name.

He was a member of the National Education Association; Rotary (President 1929, Secretary 1930-1935); Chamber of Commerce; Masons (R.A.M.; R. & S. M.; Knight Templar; Past Master 1913; Past High Priest 1929; Past TIM 1930).
