Obituary

Emily Alice Bastin was born in Hart County, Kentucky March 5, 1863 and departed this life at her home southwest of Rexford, Kansas October 27, 1925. She was 62 years, 5 months and 20 days of age at the time of her death, which was caused by a stroke of paralysis. She moved with her parents to Miami County, Kansas at 8 years of age (ca 1871). At the age of 15 years she was converted and united with the Baptist Church of which she has ever since remained a faithful member. On May 7, 1892 she was united in marriage with Robert Lee McKee at Paola, Kansas. To this union were born five children: Harley, Ethel, Clarence, Samuel and Bernice. Of these children, Ethel died in infancy, Samuel died Nov. 5, 1920 and Clarence died January 7, 1924. Mr. and Mrs. McKee moved to Thomas County in 1905 settling near Rexford where they made their home ever since. Aunt Lizzie Carter, Mrs. McKee's only sister (Martha? Mary? 20 years her senior?) has made her home with the family for the past 23 years. Mrs. McKee leaves to mourn her loss her husband, R.L. McKee, two children, Harley and Bernice, a daughter in law, Mrs. Pearl McKee, a grand daughter, Ulala Pearl McKee and the sister above mentioned Lizzie Carter. Mrs. McKee was a charter member of the Rexford Rebekah lodge and was a good worker and a regular attendant. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxilliary of Rexford. Mrs. McKee was very devoted to her home and family living that godly life that made an early impression on her children leading them to put their trust in Jesus. What greater service can a mother do for her loved ones? Sister McKee's last illness covered a period of only a few days, then fell asleep. Thus passed out from our midst a devoted wife, a loving mother, an honored neighbor and a kind friend to all that knew her. To know her was to admire her. She will be greatly missed among her large number of friends. Our loss is her gain. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. B. I. Cumpton, pastor of the Gem Baptist Church assisted by Rev. W.E. Dederich. Burial was made in the Rexford Cemetary.

Life's race well run Life's work well done Life's crown well won Now cometh rest. Gone but not forgotten.

CARD OF THANKS We wish in this way to thank our many friends and members of the Rebekah Lodge for their kindness and assistance during the illness of our wife, mother and sister, also for the beautiful floral offering. (signed) R.L. McKee Harley McKee Bernice McKee Mrs. Lizzie Carter
