 ELLA PECK BALDWIN

As night closed in and darkness softly fell at the end of the first day of the New Year, so closed the chapter of life for Ella Peck Baldwin, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Theodate Wheeler, Mannsville, N. Y. She was the widow of Herman B. Baldwin, who passed on about five years ago, and the daughter of Harrison and Lois Robinson Peck. She was born May 16, 1864 in the town of Sandy Creek, where she lived until her marriage, May 16, 1888. They then came to the old Baldwin homestead, where they resided with the exception of six years spent in Mannsville, until the death of Mr Baldwin. Since the passing of the son-in-law, Mr. Wheeler, in 1929, she has lived with her daughter. She was of a quiet, retiring disposition, loved and respected by all who knew her, and was untiring in her efforts to help her family and ffriends. Our mother is gone, but she leaves a glowing example of love, patience and self-sacrifice that will flood our memories of her with everlasting light. She was a member of the Congregational Church of Mannsville, also of Grange No. 16. She leaves to mourn her loss the daughter, Theodate, and two sons, Walter and Earle, also seven grandchildren, Kathryn, Kenneth and Keitha Wheeler and Dorothy, Howard, Bruce and Arlene Baldwin, all of Mannsville. Two sisters, Mrs Mary Williams, Adams; Mrs. Delia Frary, Pulaski, and several nieces and nephews also survive. She was laid to rest by six nephews in Maplewood Cemetery, among the flowers she loved.
