OBITUARY FROM LOCAL SANDY CREEK NEWSPAPER CLARENCE E. PECK On Monday evening the community was deeply saddened by the sudden death of Clarence E. Peck, which occurred at the home of his brother in law, Andrew Nash, on the first farm south of the Sage school house. Mr Peck was on a staging about ten feet from the ground and fell between the staging and the barn, striking on his head and shoulders. He was at work with his brother-in-law, Mr Nash, and they had been lowering a ladder from an upper staging, where they were engaged in clapboarding a barn. Mr Peck seemed to have been taken with a dizzy spell and pitched forward, falling off the staging which was a ladder laid on supports. His sister, Mrs. Nash, was within a few feet of him at the time, and was at his side almost instantly, but there were no signs of life, nor did he make any effort to save himself when he fell. The family was summoned and taken in E. D. Williams' motor car to Mr Nash's. The remains were later brought to the family home in this village where the funeral will be held Saturday at 2 o'clock, Rev. W. H. Pullen officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn. Mr Peck was 56 years of age, and was a son of Mr and Mrs Harrison Peck, who came into this town from Rensselaer county in the early fifties, and resided for many years on the farm now owned by their son-in-law, Joseph Cook. For years, Mr Harrison Peck owned a sawmill which Clarence Peck ran for several years, beside managing the extensive home farm. He was married Nov 16, 1892 to Miss Ada Hadley, daughter of William L. Hadley and since their marriage they have resided in this village. Mr Peck has served the town as assessor and was highly esteemed. He is survived by his wife, and two daughters, Miss Bernice and Miss Lucile; one brother, Charles E.Peck of Adams, and six sisters, Mrs Andrew Nash, Sandy Creek, Mrs. E. Williams of South Dakota; Mrs. R. Bass and Mrs. B. D. Frary, Pulaski; Mrs. H. Baldwin, Mannsville, and Mrs Joseph Cook of Sandy Creek. The family have the sympathy of a large circle of friends.
