Marcia Peck Bass, was born in the town of Sandy Creek, April 22, 1857. She was a daughter of Harrison and Lois Peck. In her young womanhood she was united in marriage to Reuben R. Bass of Pulaski. Mrs. Bass or better known to her friends and neighbors as "Aunt Marcia" was an active member of the Center M. E. Church and was ever ready to the call of need, always thinking of others first. Althou she had been failing in health of an incurable affliction for nearly a year, she ever tried to look on the bright side of life on earth with the assurance of her eternal home with Him who said "In My House are many mansions if it were not so I would have told you." Mrs Bass leaves to mourn her loss one brother, Charles Peck of Adams and five sisters, Mrs. B. D. Frary of Pulaski, Mrs. J.A. Cook of Sandy Creek; Mrs H. B. Baldwin of Mannsville; Mrs Mary Williams of Adams; and Mrs Emma Nash, of Syracuse. The funeral was held from her childhood home, Wednesday at 2 o'clock. She was laid to rest in the family lot in Woodlawn cemetery at Sandy Creek and the profusion of flowers which covered her grave proved the high esteem in which she was held by her friends.
