Elizabeth Worth's origins have yet to be established. If the age quoted at her burial is correct then she was born around 1784. Her first confirmed sighting is on 16th May 1811 when she was married to a waterman named Robert Harry at Stoke Damerel in Devon, the parish church which covered the town of Plymouth Dock (renamed Devonport in 1824). They did not stay in Stoke Damerel after their marriage but settled at Saltash in Cornwall, where Robert had moved as a child with his parents some time before 1800.

In Saltash, Elizabeth and Robert had five children between 1812 and 1820, but two of them (both boys named William) died young.

Elizabeth died in 1835 and was buried on 23rd March 1835 at St Stephen by Saltash, the parish church which covered Saltash. She was said to be fifty years old. Robert survived her by over thirty years and remarried in 1837.
