Mrs. Louis Slabik Dies Suddenly at Chicago Funeral services were held for Mrs. Louis Slabik, 58, at St. Mary's Star of the Sea Catholic church on Friday, July 18, at 9:30 in Chicago, Illinois. Relatives in Independence received word of her death Tuesday, July 15. She had been in good health and had worked until the day of her death which occurred while she was preparing to go to work. Death was due to a heart attack. Mrs. Slbik was employed at the Campbell Soup Company in Chicago the past 26 years. In June 1957 the Company gave a banquet at which she was the guest of honorr for outstanding work of 25 years. She was presented with a gold wrist watch and gold compact. The former Elizabeth Bautch was born in Geneseo, North Dakota, January 26, 1900, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Bautch. She was married to Louis Slabik of Independence January 26, 1921 in North Dakota and later moved to Chicago, where they recently purchased a new home. She is survived by her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Al (Romelle) Novak, one son, Ben, and seven grandchildren, all of Chicago. Other survivors are four sisters, Mrs. Ignatz Pampuch, Independence; Mrs. Isadore Pampuch, Eau Claire; Mrs. Joseph Theusch, Geneseo, N.D.; Mrs. Doanld Staehnke, Chicago; and one brother, Lawrence of Geneseo, N.D. Four sisters and three brothers preceded her in death. Relatives from Independence who attnded the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Ignatz Pampuch, Mrs. Kate Prokop, Mrs. Ben Waldera, Peter Slabik, Mr. and Mrs. George Slabik and Thomas Bisek. References
