Will of David Via.
I David Viers of the County of Augusta & Colony of Virginia my worldly Estate to Francis Viars...
I Bequeath unto my Well beloved wife whom I appoint my full and Sole Exectrix one Negroe Girl Daphine to one bond Due from John Lancaster which I allow to Pay my Debts which bond being Lost to one Note of hand due from Henry Harriss which I allow to my Creditors which note being lost for Witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand this 9th Day of July 1766.
Witnesses: Chas Knight, Edward Warner, Adam Rebourn.
Surety: James Beard, David Laird.
Proven in Court 19 Aug 1766.

  • Page 457.--9th July, 1766. David Viers' (Viars--Viurs--Via--Wivs) will--Wife, executrix, 1 bond due for John Lancaster, and 1 note of Henry Harris.--Frances Viers. Teste: Chas. Knight, Edward Warner, Adam Reaburn. Proved, 19th August, 1766, by Warner and Reaburn. Frances Via qualifies executrix (her mark), with James Beard, David Lard (Laird).
  • Page 483.--25th. September. David Via's estate appraised, by Samuel Henderson, Wm. Lamme, Andw. Leeper.
  • Vol. 1 - MAY 19, 1767. - (65) Joseph Bousart to be summoned to show why he detains William Viges, son of Francis Viges.
  • Vol. 1 - MAY 19, 1768. - (163) Robert Via, aged 6 years the 15th of this instant, son of David Via, deceased, to be bound out.
  • Vol. 1 - MARCH 21, 1769. - (82) Following to be bound out by Church Wardens, viz: Mildred Viers to John Campbell; Elizabeth Viers to Robert Campbell; Gideon Viers and David Viers to David Laird.
  • Vol. 1 - AUGUST 23, 1773. - (196) Thomas Johnston, Jr., security for Frances, widow, and admx. of David Via, now married to John Edie, asks counter security. (Note: record proves that David Via's widow Frances had re-married to John Edie).
