Daniel and Elizabeth borrow $175 to pay for their land as follows: "This indenture made this 20th day of June AD 1836 between Samuel Clark and Elizabeth his wife of the County of Stark, in the state of Ohio, of the one part, and Ferdinand Klingman of the County and state aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Daniel Clark and Elizabeth his wife for and in consideration of the sum of $175 payable to Georges Dewalt for which sum of the said Ferdinand Klingman has entered himself into security for the said Daniel Clark, which they do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain sell and confirm unto the said Ferdinand Klingman and to his heirs and assigns forever, all that tract or parcel of land situated in the County and state aforesaid, and being part of the north half of section 31, Twp. 18, range 6 and bounded as follows: beginning at the northwest corner of said section, thence south 108 rods and six tenths to a post, thence East 44 rods and 5 links to a post, thence North 108 rods and six tenths to a post, thence west to the place of beginning. Containing 30 acres. To have and to hold the premises aforesaid withall the privileges and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining unto him the said Ferdinand Klingman, his heirs and assigns forever. Provided always that these presents and upon this Express condition: that if the said Daniel Clark, his heirs executors or administrators, shall pay or cause to be paid to the said George Dewalt, his certain attorneys, heirs, executors, administrators or assigns, the said sum of $175, as follows: $75 on the first day of April 1837, and the balance of 100 dollars on the first day of April 1838, together with the interest that may accrue thereon in the manner particularly specified in to Commissary notes, or obligations, bearing the date first April 1836, Executed by the said Daniel Clark with the said Ferdinand Klingman, his security to the said George Dewalt that then and from thence Forbes these presents and everything herein contained, shall cease and be void anything herein contained to the contrary, notwithstanding. In witness whereof the said Daniel Clark have hereunto set their hands and seal on the day and year above written. Daniel Clark signed his name, Elizabeth Clark does not sign her name but makes her mark. Witnessed by Jacob and Mary Herbster Recorded July 29 July 1836"
