EDEN - Curtis Neal Jeffries, 80 , of 153 Pratt Road, passed away Monday, December 22, 2008, at Morehead Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 27, at Hampton Heights Baptist Church with burial to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

Curtis was born in Leaksville, (now Eden), to the late John Henry and Lillie Murphy Jeffries. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict. Curtis was a former Deacon of Hampton Heights Baptist Church and worked in the Church Food Ministry, he also coached softball for many years. He retired from Fieldcrest Mills as a loom fixer.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sylvia Terry Jeffries of the home; sons, DeWayne Jeffries and wife, Lesa of Starkville, Miss., Ken Jeffries and wife, Terri of Jacksonville, Fla.; daughter, Phyllis J. Meyer and husband, David of Summerfield, N.C.; brother, Oliver Jeffries of Eden; grandchildren, Katie, Leah, Meredith, Maggie, Libbie Jeffries, David and Jake Meyer.

Curtis was preceded in death by granddaughter, Amy Jeffries; eight brothers and three sisters.

Visitation will be from 7 until 9 p.m. Friday evening at Hampton Heights Baptist Church and other times at the home.
