Based on the birth places of the children it appears they moved to Ohio from Pennsylvania in 1933-34.

In 1850, 1860 and 1870 they are in Youngstown Township, Mahoning, Ohio. He was a shoemaker in 1850 & 1870. Neighbors in 1850 were Daniel Bury (whose daughter, Caroline, married Josiah Strouse) and George Rubright; In 1860, John Hoover is living with them (John married Daniel Bury's daughter, Lovina). In 1880, he & Catherine are living with with their daughter, Lucinda's family.

Before 1893, the date of the Biographical History of Northeastern Ohio, three children had died, Frank, an infant, and Mary.
