Overview

According to White, 1902: Charles Hays married Mary Campbell Walker about 1780.

Notes

As Edie states below, there is no evidence that Andrew's son Charles was ever previously married. The Charles Hays that married Martha Gilmore was almost certainly the son of Person:Charles Hays (4), Andrew Hays Sr.'s brother.

One can find Russell Co. VA records for Charles Hays and wife Martha who owned adjoining tracts of land (surveyed 1782) with William Gilmore, Sr. and William Gilmore, Jr. in the present-day town of Lebanon. I added WeRelate pages for this family. Here is a link to Person:Charles Hays (15).

From Chalkley's Augusta County Records:
1772 Charles Hays married Martha Gilmore, Augusta County, Va. [igi]

Edie says: I believe the Charles who married Martha GILMORE is son of 2Charles (1John the Oathtaker) I have no reason to believe that Charles who married Mary Campbell WALKER married anyone before her. I also find it interesting that something I shared back in 1997 is all over this board. New address: EdieGale@POBox.com
