Facts and Events
Bridget was born on 1st February 1867 at 30 St Anne Street in Birkenhead, daughter of Catherine Kelly, formerly Ralston, and her husband Dennis Kelly, a boiler maker. Bridget was their third daughter, although one of her older brothers had died as a baby before Bridget was born, making her effectively the second child. Curiously, she is not listed with the family in the 1871 census and has not been found that year, but is listed with her parents and siblings in the 1881 census.
In 1887, aged 20, Bridget had a daughter, Mary Ellen, who was brought up by Bridget's parents - indeed, Mary Ellen had an uncle who was younger than her. Mary Ellen's birth certificate describes Bridget as a charwoman.
Bridget never married. She died aged 32 of phthisis (tuberculosis) on 15th March 1899 at 9 George Street, Birkenhead, which was her sister Christina's home.
