    BARNABUS GRIFFITH
    Died in Evansville, Wis., March 22 1887, of paralysis, Barnabus Griffith in the seventy-ninth year of his age. Mr. Griffith was born in Sharlotte, Chautauqua Co., N.Y. February 29, 1808. There he married his first wife, Miss Betsy Smith in 1828. In the fall of 1845, they moved to this state, settling in the town of Porter, about three miles from the ?ey den house, where he has since resided, until three years ago when he moved to the village of Evansville. His first wife died in the fall of 1846 and he married Mrs. Harriet Morris, who died in 1854. In 1855 he married Mrs. Mary Gibbs of Janesville, who survives him. Mr. Griffith was the father of fifteen children, nine of whom, Edwin, Colorado; Orlando, Ezra and Frank, of Porter; E. ? of Milton Junction; Frederick, of Keokuk, Iowa; Mrs. Josiah Darling, of Dakota, Leonard, of Evansville; and Miss Edith, of Evansville, are alive to mourn his death. Mr. Griffith was an upright, honored citizen of the town of Porter, where he held the office of justice of the peace, for a number of years. About a year ago he received a stroke of paralysis from the effects of which he never recovered, but was a constant sufferer until on Sunday, the 20th, second stroke came, which caused his death on Tuesday morning. He was buried in the town of Porter. The Rev. ?and Cie?nd, of the United Brethren church officiating. Five of his sons and one grandson acted as pall bearers. The funeral was very largely attended.

    Mr. Barnabas Griffith who had been in poor health for a long time, died Tuesday morning March 22nd, of paralysis. Mr. Griffith was one of the earliest settlers of Porter, having moved into that town in 1845 from New York state, and lived there until a few years ago, when he came to Evansville. His funeral was held at the M.E. Church Wednesday afternoon; the sermon was preached by Rev. Mr. Eldred, a United Brother man from Albany.

    TO THE SAID COURT:
    The petition of Mary L. Griffith of the village of Evansville County of Rock, State of Wisconsin, respectfully represents and shows:
    That Barnabas Griffith a resident of the village of Evansville County of Rock, State of Wisconsin, died testate, on or about the 22nd day of March 1887 at the village of Evansville in the County of Rock, State of Wisconsin as your petitioner knows.
    That the instrument in writing, bearing date the seventh day of November 1884 herewith presented to the Court, is the Last Will and Testament of said Barnabas Griffith deceased, as your petitioner believes.
    That your petitioner is the identical person named and appointed in and by said last will and testament, as Executrix thereof.
    That said deceased, at the time of his death, owned Real Estate in Rock County, of the value of about twelve hundred DOLLARS, and Personal Estate of the Value of about one hundred DOLLARS, as petitioner believes.
    That following are the names of the heirs at law of said deceased, their degree of relationship, their place of residence, and the age of such as are Minors, as petitioner is informed and believes, viz:

    Your petitioner therfore prays that a day be appointed for hearing the proofs of said last will and testament, and that notice thereof be given pursuant to the statute in such case made and provided, and that upon the proving and allowing of said last will and testament, and the giving and approving of a sufficient bond, as required by law, Letters Testamentary be issued to said Mary L. Griffith your petitioner and that such further proceedings be had as shall be necessary to administer and settle said estate in accordance with law and the provisions of said last will and testament of said deceased.

    FIRST - It is my Will that my funeral expenses and all my just debts by paid by My Executrix herein after appointed as soon as May be after my decease --
    SECOND - I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Mary L. Griffith, all my household furniture and Wearing Apparel to her own use and benefit forever --
