Frank Griffith, known to many people of Evansville and vicinity, passed away yesterday afternoon at a little after 1 o'clock at the home of his son, Wil Griffith, in this city, following an illness of about six weeks. For the past two weeks only was he confined to his bed.
He was born in Sheridan, New York, February 28, 1842. When he was but three years old his parents moved to Wisconsin, locating on a farm in the town of Porter, where they lived for many years. In 1858 he was married and moved to the state of Pennsylvania, where he resided for about 14 years, and where his wife died in 1860. He was married the second time in 1867, and in 1872 returned to Wisconsin and to the town of Porter. His second wife died about 14 years ago. For the past 20 years, Mr. Griffith has made his home in Evansville, the most of the time with his son. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church. Besides his son, Will Griffith, he leaves one brother, O. D. Griffith, two half brothers, one residing in Los Angeles, Cal., and the other in Janesville, two half sisters, one making her home in Los Angeles, and the other in Dawson, Minn.
The funeral will be held at the home of Will Griffith tomorrow aftenoon at 2:30 and will be conducted by the Rev. Chas. E. Coon. The interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
