BIOGRAPHY: 10/28/1897 married at Elbow Lake, MN Anna K Olson was the second child born to Kittel and Gunhild Olson. She was born July 14th, 1874 in Madison Twp. Winnesheik county Iowa. She was baptized in Madison Church. September 6th 1874 July 14th 1874.Her mother passed away in 1895 and Anna and sister Gena had the 12 Olson siblings to look after. She married Sven Larson from Tarsa, Kalmar Sweden in a double wedding ceremony with brother Edward.on November 28th 1897. Six children were born to Anna and Sven Larson. Inga in August of 1899 in Battle Lake, Sophia in 1902, Anna in 1904, Selma in 1906 and Gena in1908. Son Sven was born in 1913 in Clitheral.

Anna got arthritis very bad. She got quite crippled up and needed to use crutches. She was told she got it from spending so much time laying on the ice and kneeling on the ice, ice fishing. Anna and Swen lived in Clitheral Twp. and Anna would go to visit at granddaughter Verna's driving a horse and buggy. Verna was quite little and she remembers how excited she got when she would see the buggy coming with grandma Anna driving it. They lived about 6 miles away, in Eagle Lake Twp. Anna's daughters, Inga and Selma, married brothers, Henry and Oscar Stromberg. They all decided to move to Canada because the men were quite the fur trappers and they heard that there was a lot of fur in Canada. Then Anna and Swen decided to move up there also and take their son Swenalong. Verna was very heart broken when they all left. Oscar and Inga hada daughter that was close to Verna's age and they were good friends. So,Verna lost her cousin and friend, grandma and grandpa and aunts anduncles all at one time. Verna's dad decided to go up and take a look also to see if they shouldmove up there. While he was gone, Sophie's sister, Gena, came to staywith Verna and Sophie. Gena and Stanley Jorud were courting at the timeso Stanley would spend a lot of time with them also. Late one night, astrange man showed up at their door. Stanley went to see what he wanted. It was a tramp and he was looking for a place to stay. Stanley showed himto the barn and then locked the barn door behind him. All the women werepretty scared. The next morning, everyone went to the barn to milk cows. The tramp asked Stanley why he wasn't helping the women milk cows.Stanley said he had a sore on his hand so he couldn't milk. The tramp just made a loud noise to that. They all went into the house for breakfast. The tramp said," I saw all you ladies go to bed last night. You were scared weren't you." This really freaked them all out. This tramp was a very big man and seemed so very frightening at the time but he apparently wasn't really dangerous. Later that day they heard a neighbor lady say that he had been to her place and had coffee and now her bowl of sugar was gone. After this incident, Stanley told his dad that he had to stay with Gena,Sophie and Verna all the time Severt was gone. This made the women feel safer and Gena and Stanley got to spend a lot of time together. Severt decided he didn't like Canada and came back to stay. One late night, some time later, a big truck came driving into the yard and it was Anna, Swen and young Swen. They unloaded all their stuff in Sophie's yard. They lived with Sophie, Severt and Verna for quite awhile. Then Severt built them a house. (Dale has a rock from near the foundation of this house which was west of the Smedsrud home) When Swen died, Anna moved in with Sophie again. Anna was a very good cook.

DEATH: Died in Smedsrud home of a stroke. Orva from then on was fearful of the room her grandmother died in.
