Irene Amato writes: "...his name first appeared on the Augusta Co, VA records as early as Feb. 19, 1746/47 when he was called to serve on a jury. He was living
apart or at least had his own place as early as Nov. 28, 1749 when his father
recorded the sale of 181 acres to Dennis Dyer...
Andrew served in the militia in Anson Co., NC in 1755...He petitioned for land on Twelve Mile Creek in that county, the same day his father submitted his petition
for 600 acres. At that time he was recorded as Andew Nott, but received the land under the name Andew Nutt. Recorded in land transactions in Carolina records we find the names of two wives and if he had been married while living in Augusta County it seems likely that he was married three times...
We find his name recorded in Kershaw County, SC where he witnessed a deed on the 24th of October, 1804, and again mention is made of him in those same records of 1810, but when he died is unknown...
Land records show that Andrew had moved into southern Lancaster County, an area that was later to become Kershaw County. On the 1st of Oct. 1771 he received 150 acres of land on a branch of Beaver Creek..." The last record of Andrew, Sr. in Kershaw records was when he was mentioned in a deed recorded Sept. 1810. A will has not been found for Andrew."
