Aaron Conkling, son of Joseph and Rebecca (Ross) Conkling was born on 19 December 1806 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Aaron’s father left his Cincinnati farm to his three youngest sons, Aaron, Felix, and Benjamin. On 1 January 1829 Aaron married Mary Johnson, daughter of John and Phoebe (Squire) Johnson in Butler County, Ohio. Mary was born on 23 August 1813 in Morris County, New Jersey and died on 23 May 1905 in Seaford, Delaware. Aaron died on 4 March 1857 in Cambridge City, Indiana. He is buried at Riverside Cemetery in Cambridge City, Indiana. His wife Mary was the administrator of his estate which was filed in Wayne County on 22 April 1857. The 1850 census shows Aaron living in Cambridge City with Mary, age 37 and Ellen Russell, age 7. A Hamilton County Ohio deed dated 1833 shows Joshua Perry selling land to Aaron and his brothers, Felix, and Benjamin for $1.
