    She [Hendrickjen Stevense] and Jan Kiers emigrated with her father and family on the ship "de Bonte Koe" 15 April 1660. The record says "Jan Kiers, farmer and wife from Drenthe." They settled in Flattlands. On 11 June 1677 they sponsored for the son of Hendrick Jansen and Geurtjen Hendricks at the Brooklyn Ref. Ch. and on 16 Sept they sponsored for Steven the son of her half-brother Lucas at the Flatbush Ref. Ch.

    Jan Kiersz and wife Hendrickje Stevens from Amersfoort are listed as members of the New Utrecht church 1680-81. On 31 Jul 1681 they sponsor at the same church for the son of Jan Clemente and Maria Bogert. Sometime later they returned to Holland to attend to their property at Stynwick in Drenthe as per letter from Hilbert Coert to Coert Stevense dated 9 Feb 1687.
