Nieuw-Amersfoort [1]

Nieuw-Amersfoort is een nederzetting in voormalig Nieuw-Nederland die gesticht werd in 1647. In 1654 kreeg Nieuw-Amersfoort rechten voor zelfbestuur. In hetzelfde jaar werd in het nabijgelegen Midwout een kerk gebouwd, zodat de inwoners niet langer de tocht naar Nieuw-Amsterdam hoefden te maken op zondag. De nederzetting staat tegenwoordig bekend als Flatlands in de borough Brooklyn in New York City.

New Amersfoort is a former settlement in New Netherlands which was founded in 1647. In 1654 received New Amersfoort rights for self-government. In the same year in the nearby Midwout a church, so the inhabitants no longer the trip to New Amsterdam had to make on Sunday. The settlement is now known as Flatlands in the Brooklyn borough of New York City.
