Jim and Emily were married September 19, 1912 in Staffordshire, then, one day later, boarded the ship "Empress of Ireland" in Liverpool. The ship arrived in Quebec on September 27.

They settled in Edmonton where their son, Arthur James Crockett, was born in 1916. James was only fourteen years old when Emily was tragically hit and killed by a train in Ponoka, Alberta.
