Esther Payne England, granddaughter of Hiram and Julia HILL, wrote " A Personal History of the Hill and Burnham Families of Cassadaga, New York", 1979. (Pg 1) Hiram Hill was born in Berkshire, Franklin County, Vermont in 1800. He died in Burnham Hollow in Chautauqua County, New York, October 1876. Burial was in the Burnhams Hollow Cemetery, first monument on the left hand corner, coming from Cassadaga. Hiram left Vermont at an early age, 18 years, and traveled thruogh the wilderness to Cherry Creek, New York. It is recorded he bought a parcel of land on Section 49 in 1818, in the month of August. He stayed in Cherry Creek in Chautauqua County, New York a number of years, then moved to Center Road in Burnhams Hollow. He bought two parcels of land, 35 and 36 on this road. Who he traveled with is not known, as his wife at that time was not born. She was Julia Ann Barry from the same place in Vermont that Hiram came from but was 20 years younger. They traveled by horseback through the dense woods as the Erie Canal had just been started and not very far along at that time. ... References
