In 1874, Ann Rumgay lived at 224 St. Vincent Street, Blythswood, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland. David Whyte lived at the Railroad Station House in Kirkcaldy, Fifeshire, Scotland with his parents. Ann and David were married on 11 December 1874 at at 224 St. Vincent Street, Blythswood, Glasgow by George W. Thomson of the Free Church of Scotland. Witnesses to the marriage were John Whyte and Jane Whyte. Between 1876 and 1879 the Whyte family lived on Mitchell Street in Kirkcaldy.

Ann and David appeared on the census of 1881 at at 10 East Fergus Place, Kirkcaldy, with their children David, Margaret and William. They lived at the 10 East Fergus Place address until at least 1882. Between 1884 and 1894, Ann and David lived at 98 Alexandra Street, Kirkcaldy. Ann and David appeared on the census of 1891 with their children David, Margaret Jane, William, John MacKie, Robert Rumgay and Alexander George at 98 Alexandra Street.

In 1915, Ann and David Whyte lived at at 162 Dunnikier Road, Kirkcaldy. Annie fell ill with a fever around October 19, 1915. She suffered a stroke on November 10 and died at 2 a.m. on November 12 at the age of 68. Ann Rumgay was buried in Bennochy Cemetary, Kirkcaldy.

David Whyte died on 12 January 1923 at at 12 Lina Street, Kirkcaldy, at age 76 of acute gastro intestinal catarrh. He was buried in with his wife.
