[Note:Daniel's wife does not appear to be Mary BABCOCK - this seems to be a confusion with the wife of Daniel ELLEN, who lived in Dorchester (see 2nd entry quoted). The Mary Sherman who was named as Mary Allen in Rev. John Sherman's will has been determined to have married (1) Henry Freeman, and then (2) Lewis Allen (see 3rd and 4th entries quoted) which appears to explain this reference. According to a Jacobus article in Source:TAG, p. 20:133-135, this Mary Sherman had a half-sister also named Mary (b 1657) who married Ellis Barron and a half-sister named Mercy who married Samuel Barnard, ruling out the possibility that Daniel's wife was Mary Sherman, daughter of John Sherman. That Daniel's wife was Mary Wilder is based on a gift of 40 acres in Lancaster by Thomas Wilder to Daniel Allen - see Nourse.]

"Thomas Wilder's daughter Mary married Daniel Allen, a cooper in Charlestown, and upon a gift of forty acres of land from her father, they came to Lancaster, bringing children born in Charlestown and Watertown, but after some years' residence here, returned to Watertown." [Note: no deed of gift associated with this gift has yet been located.]
