WeRelate:Suggestions/Add "Description" field for the birth/death to the Family page

Original Suggestion and Discussion

In some cases it would be very helpful to include the "Description" field from the Person pages of the children on the Family page for the parents. An example is Family:Richard Townsend and Agnes Arnold (1), where if you click on each individual's name, you can view the parentage entered as a description on the christening record, but it would be easier to view if it was accumulated on the Family page. Including the description on the Family page would also make it more visible in the cases where any questions about the dates or locations were noted in the description. Admin Follow up

We are currently working through the backlog of suggestions.

This request was not resolved, but also not discussed further to determine the specifications. It is possible that a workaround solution has been found or that the initial concerns are no longer there. Would you like for this request to remain active? If so, please help us to define the specifications of such a change.

A couple of questions come to mind:

  • Which specific Description fields would you like to see rendered for each child on a Family page? Birth or Christening row only or Death row as well? Others?
  • Will too many additional fields on the Family page look cluttered?
  • Since the ability currently exists to display the information in a citation on the Family page (albeit with a few extra steps by the editor), how important would you each of you rate this update?

Due to the age of this request, we will move it to archive unless a response or objection is posted within 10 days. --cos1776 20:16, 28 October 2016 (UTC)

Considering the amount of text I enter in some of my descriptions, I will retract my suggestion as it might make the Family page too cluttered.-Moverton 00:05, 29 October 2016 (UTC)
