By contributing to WeRelate you are helping to create Pando for genealogy, a free, unified family tree that combines the best information from all contributors. Now that you have uploaded Veach Family Tree.ged, your next step is to review what your pages will look like, review any potential warnings, and combine (merge) people in your GEDCOM with matching people already on WeRelate. You need to review your GEDCOM before it can finish importing. Note: if your gedcom contains many errors or multiple families, we’d ask that you resolve and correct the errors, delete this gedcom and re-submit it without the errors before merging it with families already on WeRelate. If the gedcom is very large, we’d suggest breaking it up into separate lines and importing them one at a time, which makes the review and correction process easier. Click here to review your GEDCOM Once you have finished your review and marked your GEDCOM Ready to import, one of our administrators will review your GEDCOM and finalize the import. This usually happens within 24 hours. You will receive a message here when the pages have been created.
[add comment] [edit] Gemcom review reminder [26 June 2010]Welcome to the WeRelate community. I noticed that your gedcom has been uploaded. The system is different and might be a little confusing at first. If you were not aware of the review process, click on this link to go to review page http://www.werelate.org/gedcom/index.php?gedcomId=4636 You can come and go as you have time. The link to gedcom review is also located in a message on your talk page. (Click on MyRelate and select "Talk Page.") WeRelate is an active community of genealogists staffed by volunteers. Our mission is to help people collaborate on common ancestors. The review process will connect you with other genealogists researching common ancestors. Your gedcom cannot be uploaded until you have checked the warnings and possible matches with common ancestors. The warnings will tell you if someone died before they married/were born, etc. You can correct the page in the lower window by clicking on the edit link. You must look at every warning and every suggested match. You need to read through the warnings and review the suggested family matches. For each family match, please mark it as a match or not a match. Let me know if you need help getting started. You should be aware that Gedcoms left unreviewed/uploaded will be deleted after ten days (July 3). [add comment] [edit] I have imported your gedcom [7 July 2010]Welcome to the WeRelate community. I noticed that your gedcom has been uploaded. Since you haven't processed it in gedcom review, I took a look at it for you. It only needed minor fixes so I have imported it for you. You should know that after uploading a gedcom file, users are expected to return and review the prospective file before it is imported. The review process will flag potential problems and let you edit the prospective pages to fix them. It is also necessary to compare with families that the system has flagged as potential matched to existing families. The goal is to have only one page for each person. I hope you enjoy We Relate. --Gedcom admin 10:17, 7 July 2010 (EDT) (WeRelate volunteer) |
