Next step: Review your GEDCOM [2 January 2018]

You're not done yet!

Now that you have uploaded nollen5.ged into our review program, it is time for you to match your data to ours. Your next step is to review and resolve any potential warnings that your file might be showing and to match place names, source names and families to pages that may already exist in our database.

Notes:

  • You must complete all the steps before your GEDCOM can be considered for import. - We will keep your file in the queue for two months to give you time to finish, and you do not have to finish all at once.
  • If you did not follow the instructions for preparing your data before uploading your file or if your file does not contain at least one date and place for each person with sources, it is likely that your file will be rejected.
  • Volunteers are here to help. Please read the instructions first, but if you get stuck or have any questions, you can leave a message on the page for the GEDCOM review team. One of our volunteers will respond shortly.
  • Once you have completed the review and marked your GEDCOM Ready to import on the last screen, one of our volunteer administrators will review the file again and finalize the import. This usually happens within 24-48 hours. Please allow a little extra time around the holidays. When the import is finalized, you will receive a follow up message here on your Talk page.

Welcome to WeRelate. We are a genealogy community site. Because the information you submitted will be shared on community wiki pages, we ask that you clean your data before it is added to the database. Please look at the warnings tab. Duplicate Pages [9 February 2018]

Hi, Math1985

It looks like you have just uploaded a Gedcom full of duplicates. As you know, one of the goals of WeRelate is avoid the creation of duplicate profiles. Could you please merge the duplicates that you have uploaded?

You can find the duplicate pages by using the "My Relate" menu at the top of the page, go down and click on "Show Duplicates". This will give you a list of duplicate pages that you have created or are watching. Click on a duplicate and merge the two pages into one. If you are unsure of how to merge pages, see How to merge under Help:Merging pages.

Your attention to this problem would be much appreciated. --GayelKnott 06:43, 6 February 2018 (UTC)

That's weird, something definitely must have gone wrong there. The initial gedcom itself must have been fine, I think I would have got warnings otherwise, so I must have done something wrong during importing. Thanks for catching that. I merged the duplicates now. Math1985 19:35, 8 February 2018 (UTC)
I agree, it really looks like something weird happened when the gedcom was imported. Hopefully it won't happen again, and thank you dealing with the duplicates. It's a major job. Gayel --GayelKnott 22:13, 9 February 2018 (UTC)
