Winthrop 1630, bring. s. Samuel, and w. beside Elizabeth and perhaps Abigail,
an only ch. sis. by ano. f. of John Hayward of Watertown and Charlestown,
wh. d. soon after land. at Salem. He was s. of Christopher, b.
1593, at Rainham St. Martins near Rougham, in the hundr. of galow,
Co. Norfolk, not Raymond, as says Mather III. capt. 4, but Brook, in
Lives of Puritans II. 493, says Roudham, in the same Co. yet Dr. Fuller,
writ. to Gov. Bradford, Particularly calls him a Suffolk man (refer.
no doubt, to the exercise of his min. for more prob. is the deriv. from
Norfolk); however, more import. is it, that he was bred at Gonville and
Caius Coll. Cambridge, matricula. 20 Apr. 1610, as from its rec. Mr.
Somerby certified me. and there, I found, he took his degr. 1613 and
1617, was sett. in Boxted, Co. Essex, as the dilig. inq. of a descent. in our
day has estab. tho. Prince's Ann. II. 45, with minute knowledge, prefer.
a differ. but not dist. parish. Hubbard, wh. ought to have kn.
calls him "faithful min. of the gospel at Bocksted, near Groton in
Sufflk." By a sec. w. m. prob. 1631, Eliz, by Bond, with happy conject.
thot. to be wid.of capt. Robert Welden, he had Zorobabel, b. 5 Apr.
1632; Jonathan, 16 Nov. 1633; Theophilus, 28 May 1636; Amabel,
Dec. 1637, d. Apr. foll.; Ephraim, bur. 12 June 1640, very young;
Obadiah, b. 5 apr. 1641; and a d. Abiel, perhaps that Abigail, wh. m. 8
Oct. 1666, James Barnard. He had req. on 19 Oct. to be made freem.
took the o. with the earliest, 18 May foll. d. Monday 1 July 1644, and
was bur. the next day. His wid. d. 17 Jan. 1681. GEORGE, Dorchester,
freem. 18 May 1631, may be presume, to have come, in the Mary and
John, the yr. bef. rem. early to Windsor, for this slender health in 1648
and 55, was excus. from milt. watch. His w. d. 1662, leav. him no ch.
and he was so unfortun. 1676, as to be involv. in a wordy controv. with
the authority of the col. wh. disranch. him next yr. of wh. some acco. is
in Trumbull's Rec. II. 307; but lucki. for him, he d. 9 July 1678. His
est. was disput. for by remote heirs. GEORGE, Brookhaven, s. of Samuel
the first, was min. there 42 yrs. m. Sarah, eldest d. of William Hallet,
the sec. had George, William, John, H. C. 1725,and three ds. but of
only one, Mary, is the name told. He d. 3 Apr. 1739. * HENRY,
Dedham, freem. 13 Mar. 1639, ar. co. 1640, had w. Elizabeth[1] [Mary] Brock, wh.
d. 1 Aug. 1640, and m. 1 May 1641, Ann Hunting, prob. sis. of Elder
John, had Eleazur, b. 30 Jan. bapt. 6 Feb. 1642, d. in few days;
Hannah, 25, bapt. 28 May 1643; Abigail, 20 Oct. 1645; and by third
w. Mary
, d. of John Dwight, had Nathaniel[1], bapt. 3 Apr. 1653, d. bef.
his f.; and Eleazur, 8 Oct. 1654; was ens. of the Milit. comp. 1648;
rem. to Boston to follow his trade of a butcher; there had Henry, b. 1,
bapt. 26 Oct. 1656, d. bef. his f.; Timothy, 15, bapt. 19 Sept. 1658;
Mary, 28 Nov. bapt. 2 Dec. 1660; Samuel, bapt. 2 Nov. 1662; Elisha,
12, bapt. 15 May 1665; Jonathan, 12 Sept. 1666, bapt. uncert. day;
