Phippen. JOHN, Boston, by w. Hannah had John, b. 16 Sept. 1652.
JONATHAN, Salem, br. of Benjamin, had perhaps Jonathan, wh. d. young;
and Mary, ment. in a deed of 1709; but we. kn. not his wh. nor of him
any thing more, exc. that in testif. 19 Oct. 1716, he call. hims. 77 yrs. old.
NICHOLAS, New Haven 1643, a physician and trader, sw. alleg. 5 Aug.
1644, had brs. John and Robert (unless the latter were neph.) to wh. with
sis. Esther Coster he gave most of his est. that was a good one, by will of
20 Sept. 1669, being "bound on a voyage to Boston." Yet he got back
safe, and liv. sev. yrs. He was the sufferer, I judge, in 1676 and 7, on
the voyage from Boston to N. H. cast away on a desolate isl. in the little
vessel with Ephraim How, near Cape Sable, relation of wh. in Mather's
best manner, may be read in Magn. VI. appropr. call. Thaumaturgus, c. 1.
Of his inv. of £1638 the date is 26 Feb. 1678. The larger part his sis.
had, to br. John (prob. then in Eng.) the beq. was only £20, and John's
s. Nicholas had £100, and ano. s. had £40, and Robert, £150. After
Mrs. Coster d 5 Apr. 1691, Robert, the next of kin, resist. pro. of her
will, cont. some beq. for "support of religion and learning;" but he met
with no success. ROBERT, New Haven, prob. neph. tho. Dodd calls him
br. of the preced. m. 20 Nov. 1673, Mary, d. of dep. gov. Matthew Gilbert,
had Esther, b. 19 Oct. 1677; John, 26 Nov. 1678, d. young; Ann,
14 Nov. 1682; Mary, again, 1683, d. soon; and John, again, 16 Nov.
1686; but the last was by sec. w. THOMAS, Watertown 1663, of wh.
Bond, writing his name Agar, found not w. or ch. but prob. he rem. to
Taunton, for the rec. of that town tells, that he m. Nov. 1665, Elizabeth Packer.
But I think she may have been d. of Samuel Packard of Bridgewater,
and her h. liv. in that town, perhaps, but they had then no magistr. authoriz.
to solemn. m. WILLIAM, Salem 1636, perhaps earlier, for he was
adm. freem. of Mass. 18 May 1631, when the Secr. gave the name Agar;
by w. Alice had Benjamin, bapt. 12 Feb. 1637; and Jonathan, 10 Nov.
1639; beside elder ch. Joseph, and Abigail, wh. bec. w. of Joseph Kibben,
or Kibby; and he d. 1654. His will of 31 May, pro. Nov. in that
yr. names the w. and four ch. but notes, that Joseph was abroad. In ist. Coll.
of Essc Inst. I. 11, Mr. Patch finds the date of his will to be 3 Mar. and of pro.
June of that yr. WILLIAM, Malden, m. 7 Dec. 1659, Ruth, d. of Abraham Hill,
had William, b. 20 Apr. 1661, d. soon; William, again, 30 Nov. 1662; ano.
perhaps John, Oct. 1667.
AUGUSTINE, JOHN, Reading 1677, had come from the Isle of Jersey,
and had serv. in the comp. of Turner in the latter part of Philip's war,
and in that yr. by deed on our rec. sold to John Brock; of the same place

Jan. 1677, Elizabeth d. of John Brown of Watertown, as Bond, 145, tells; and
in 1680 took a gr. of ld. at Falmouth from Presid. Danforth, and bot.
