William was admitted as a freeman (as "William Agar") on 18 May 1631.[3]

He was admitted at the church at Salem before 1636, and received 30 acres there in 1636.[4]

His will mentions his son Joseph (who seemed to be missing), son Benjamin, son Jonathan, daughter Abigall Kibben, wife Alice.

    18 May 1631. I dare not attempt to indicate how close is the reality of
    relationship with those who spell Auger and Hagar.

    AUGER, AGAR or AUGUR... WILLIAM, Salem 1636, perhaps earlier,for he was
    adm. freem. of Mass. 18 May 1631, when the Secr. gave the name Agar;
    by w. Alice had Benjamin, bapt. 12 Feb. 1637; and Jonathan, 10 Nov.
    1639; beside elder ch. Joseph, and Abigail, wh. bec. w. of Joseph Kibben,
    or Kibby; and he d. 1654. His will of 31 May, pro. Nov. in that
    yr. names the w. and four ch. but notes, that Joseph was abroad. In ist. Coll.
    of Essc Inst. I. 11, Mr. Patch finds the date of his will to be 3 Mar. and of pro.
    June of that yr.
