The following entries are found in the index of Kegley, 1982. The entry under "Probable Article" refers to the "person page" for the person currently thought to most likely to correspond to this entry. The volume focuses on land within the present boundaries of Pulaski County. Pulaski formed in 1839 frm Montgomery and Wythe. Wythe had split from Montgomery in 1790.Some entries, however, appear to be from other areas.
Given Name | Page | Date | Abstract | Probable Article | Note

Land settled 1773 | | It is possible that Bazaleel was the original settler of the land; however, its also possible that he simply assigned is certificate to Sheply, who made the actual settlement.
|
David | 63 | 1782 | In assignment chain for land acquired by George martin SF Cripple Creek, surveyed 12 may 1775 | | The 'David Maxwell' listed in the assignment chain in these records is probably the same person. Dates for the land records probably place him in the area 1774-1775. Whether he was in the area before or after that date is unknown.

David | 394 | after 1805 ? | David Maxwell married Ruth Muirhead, dau of Enoch Moorehead (1755-1804) and Mary and moved to TN | | Enoch Morehead, per Kegly, 1982, settled on Peak Creek in modern Pulaski County. Its likely that this particular David Maxwell lived nearaby. Given Moreheads DOB of 1755, his daughter Ruth could scarcely have been born before c 1775. Since Ruth appears to be unmarried at the time of his death in 1804, it might be that she was not born until considerably later than 1775. In anycase, this implies that her future husband David Maxwell may have been a relatively young man in 1804. Which is to say, he's not the David Maxwell whose mentioned in the above assignment chains dating to c1774.
