Property in question may never have been occupied by him. Property lay on North Side of Walkers Mountain, in the NF HOlston watershed; the name "Goalmans Gap" as such does not survive today, but from reference to Stephen Keywood/Kaywood, we can confidently place this in the Saltville area. (North Fork of Holston). Other land records in Washington County refer to a "Goldman's Gap" on the north side of Walker Mountain about one mile east of Michael's Creek. While the place name "Michaels Creek" and "Goldman's Gap" also do not survive as such placement on the Northside of Walkers Mountain is also consistent with a Saltville general location.

Page 37 Samuel Houston, Edward Houston Robert Edmonson; 400 ac; Commissioners Certificate; between the middle and south fork of Holston River; June 12, 1782; Robert Edmonson, Legatee of Robert Edmonson, decd; 400 ac by settlement made in 1763; adjoining George Masonrie, Robert Montgomery, Samuel Houston & Edward Houston; August 10, 1781; Property is in the area between the Middle and South Fork of the Holston. Note that the settlement date of 1763 is improbably early. This is possibly a transcription error, or an indication that Edmondson was in the area at a very early date. While settlers could not legally settle much of the area until 1769, some settlement occurred around 1750, prior to the French and Indian War. Most, if not all, of these settlers left the area around 1756 due to Indian attacks. Some families returned and reclaimed the land at the end of the war. Possibly Robert Edmonson was one of them.
